Concurrent Enrollment Options & Application Process

Admission criteria are the same for each program:

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Minimum scores of 19 on ACT English & ACT Math and 17 on ACT Reading score subtests. If ACT scores are not available or at the necessary level, students may elect to take the appropriate ACCUPLACER assessments ($15/test). These are available through the MSC Testing Center or a participating high school.
  • Grades of B or better on high school courses in the desire college discipline.
  • High school counselor approval of eligibility/readiness.

Application & Registration Forms

In addition to the appropriate application and registration forms students will also need to provide official copies of HS transcripts and ACT or SAT test scores.

Register for College Opportunity Fund

Students who are Colorado residents and enrolling in any of the Concurrent enrollment options MUST register for the College Opportunity Fund (COF) to offset their college tuition and apply their state benefits toward their education. The process is simple and quick. Students will need to have their Social Security number and Colorado Identification (ID or driver's license) to complete the process. It only needs to be done once in the student's college experience.

Options

  • Students who have completed ALL the requirements for high school graduation are eligible to enroll at a Mesa State/WCCC campuses as Fast Track students.
  • Available to 12th grade students.
  • These students do not take courses at their high school and take all their courses at Mesa State: may include MSC online courses.
  • They may enroll in a maximum of 15 credit hours per semester.
  • School districts pay the standard undergraduate tuition for these courses; students pay all other fees.
  • Fast Track students are financially responsible for applying for the Colorado COF stipend to offset their tuition.
  • COST: Standard undergraduate in-state tuition rate - TUITION TABLE. Participating students must register for COF to apply state funds to tuition charges.

Application Process and Timeline:

Fast Track students should meet with their HS counselor to determine eligibility.

Complete application Parent/Student Agreement form, and Concurrent registration form, including test scores and transcripts, must be received by July 15 for Fall semester enrollment and December 1 for Spring semester enrollment.

Fast Track students should register for COF at the time of application.

Fast Track students will receive notice of acceptance in writing from the Admission Office.

Fast Track students should then schedule an appointment with the Mesa State Advising Center for course selection & registration.

Fast Track students must attend the Concurrent/Fast Track Student Orientation prior to the start of their first college semester.

Early Scholars

  • This program provides qualified students the opportunity to take MSC courses in their high school.
  • The courses are taught by high school teachers approved as MSC adjunct faculty. 
  • Available to 11th and 12th grade students in participating high schools.
  • The courses are offered for both high school and college credit (dual credit).
  • Students may enroll in no more than four courses per semester in this program.
  • Tuition for these courses is reduced as the instructor’s salary is being paid by the school district.
  • Early Scholars students are financially responsible for applying for the Colorado COF stipend to offset their tuition.
  • COST: $60/credit hour. Laboratory courses carry an additional $30 lab fee per course.

Application Process and Timeline:

Early Scholars students should meet with their HS counselor to determine eligibility and select available courses.

Complete Early Scholars/Concurrent application, including test scores and transcripts, Parent/Student Agreement form and Concurrent Registration Form, should be given to the high school liaison at the appropriate date communicated by the high school. The counselor will forward all materials to the MSC Admission Office.

Early Scholars students should register for COF at the time of application.

Early Scholars students will receive notice of acceptance from the high school counselor/liaision.

Concurrent

  • Students enroll in a MSC course on an MSC campus while still enrolled in high school; may include MSC online courses.
  • Available to students in 11th or 12th grade. 
  • Students may enroll in no more than four courses per semester in this program; most take one or two courses per semester.
  • The college courses taken can also be used for completion of high school credits; this program is also known as "dual credit" for that reason. 
  • In most school districts, students pay the regular course tuition and fees upon course registration and are reimbursed for the tuition amount upon successful course completion (grade of C or better).
  • Concurrent students are financially responsible for applying for the Colorado COF stipend to offset their tuition.
  • COST: Standard undergraduate in-state tuition rate - TUITION TABLE. Participating students must register for COF to apply state funds to tuition charges.

Application Process and Timeline:

Concurrent students should meet with their HS counselor to determine eligibility and select courses from the on-campus or online MSC/WCCC course offerings.

Complete applications, including test scores and transcripts, must be received by July 15 for Fall semester enrollment and December 1 for Spring semester enrollment.

Concurrent students should register for COF at the time of application.

Concurrent students will receive notice of acceptance in writing from the Admission Office.

Concurrent students will also recieve notice in writing of course registration; if students course selection is not available, staff will make every effort to register the student in an equivalent course in consultatio with the student and the counselor.

Concurrent students must attend the Concurrent/Fast Track Student Orientation prior to the start of their first college semester.
